Besides providing shoppers with the best shopping spree of the year, the IFS will also focus on giving back to communities. This comes as part of the new strategy for the show going forward, from its new owners and management; Thebe Exhibitions & Projects Group.
Thebe supports enterprise development and, as such, has donated all its old banners to Bloomin' Bags to use as material for high-end branded recyclable bags, which will be sold during the show. Bloomin' Bags is a small enterprise made up of women and men from disadvantaged communities who collect discarded banners, signage skins and billboards, recycle them and use the material to make bags. Bloomin' Bags can be contacted on [email protected].
Through the IFS these men and women will have an opportunity to exhibit their bags, tell their stories and, hopefully, get others involved in donating any recyclable material that they can use.
To attend the IFS or for more information, go to www.internationalfashionsale.co.za or call Celeste Whitaker of Thebe Exhibitions & Projects Group on +27 (0)11 467 4935.
