Western Cape Cricket today announced the signing of all-rounder Robin Peterson for the Nashua Cape Cobras squad next season.
Petersen, who is part of the current Proteas 20/20 team, has proved himself as a top-class player in all three formats of the professional game, with 35 ODI games, six test matches and five 20/20 internationals under his belt. On the domestic front he has played 91 first-class matches along with his 127 one-day domestic matches and 33 Pro20 games.
Nashua Cape Cobras coach Shukri Conrad said :“We are extremely pleased to be signing a player of Robin Peterson's calibre, experience and attitude. He is successful and talented in all forms of the game and we look forward to him turning-out in the blue and gold of the Nashua Cape Cobras.”
CEO Andre Odendaal added: “We are making an investment in an experienced three-in-one player who will make the current Pro20 champions even stronger in this area, and we see Robin following in the mould of pros like Alan Dawson, Adam Bacher, Charl Langeveldt and Claude Henderson who have come through for us at key times in tight situations in the past few seasons.”
Peterson is due to make his first appearance for the Nashua Cape Cobras as early as Saturday, in their historic “Clash of the Champions” game against the IPL T20 Champions, Rajasthan Royals, at Sahara Park Newlands, starting at 16:30. The match will be televised live in India and South Africa and children under 12 accompanied by an adult will be let in free.
