New song honours singer's losing battle with cancer

Upon being diagnosed with a rare form of osteosarcoma, a form of cancer in the bone, at the end of 2010, Kimberley Rose's brother, Justin, called up a school-friend - Sasha Righini of The Plastics - and asked him to allow Kim to enter their studio to record a pop song.

This idea was created by the need to inspire Kim to fight the disease she had just been diagnosed with and had also been thought that such excitement would keep her spirits alive.

Upon entering the studio with The Plastics, she immediately had her heart set on recording her own single. It wasn't long until Pascal Righini - The Plastics lead singer - was writing a song for Kim.

Months passed and Kim was finally told that her song was ready for recording. Battling to walk and barely able to speak to anyone, she made her way to the studio where she was greeted by the entire band.

Special, dramatic and amazing song

A day before departing for her treatment in South Korea, Kim was asked to come back to the studio one last time to record the end of her single. Not able to leave her wheelchair, she was helped into the studio and took her place alongside the microphone. She stood on her own two feet, all alone, and reached every single high note required to make this song the special, dramatic and amazing song it is today.

Two weeks later she would pass on and become an angel; overlooking her family, friends and strangers who would begin listening to this song with tears in their eyes - but one thing is for sure, and she knew it. When the world hears her song, she'll be the superstar she always dreamed of becoming.

The Kimberly Rose Cancer Foundation was unofficially formed in November 2011, just a few days after the passing of Kim-Batya Asher, a young 15-year-old girl who suffered from cancer.

Since the formation they have spent countless days planning a very special moment - the launch of an original song, which Kim recorded with The Plastics. With the foundation being officially formed in July 2013, Kim's Song by Kimberley Rose ft. The Plastics, was officially launched on 8 November, 2013 - exactly two years since Kim's passing.

The foundation would like to create as much awareness with the release of Kim's Song in order for Kim's dream to become true: to become famous. To celebrate the release of the song, The Plastics, along with The Kimberly Rose Cancer Foundation, have also made a music video for Kim's Song to accompany the song.

The intention of publishing a book

Kim's story, from a teenage singer and dancer to a teenage cancer patient has been documented by her brother, Justin Asher, and bits of the story - written with the intention of publishing a book - can be found online at the foundation's website, www.kimberlyrose.org.
