McCain donates sweet potatoes to feeding mission
The mission was started in 1997 by Bill Robinson to cater to the needs of the underprivileged communities, predominantly in the south of Johannesburg. However as time has gone on they have been able to offer assistance to other areas including Mozambique and Swaziland.
"Our focus is to help the charities who don't have the infrastructure or facilities to access these donations easily. Our refrigerated truck assists over 14 different charities in the distribution of their donations from generous companies like McCain that kindly offer food to those less fortunate. In addition we are the only feeding mission that caters for frozen food deliveries for charities," commented Robinson.
It not only assist in the distribution of supplies to HIV orphanages in South Africa and Swaziland but also supports other feeding schemes including Cotlands, Resthaven Ministries, eKhaya Children's Ministries and United Cerebral Palsy to name a few.
"The corporate's ethos is 'It's all good' and this rings true throughout our company. We instil this philosophy in our staff and highlight it through our CSI initiatives," said Greg Foster, marketing manager of McCain Foods SA.
