Four of these student-produced commercials were selected as nominees and the winning ad, announced on Wednesday evening, 3 March 2010, was Flying Glasses from Cape Town.
The winning team of Saskia Schiel, Franco Jooste, Jessica Visser and Wicus Labushagne received certificates and their commercial will be played at Ster-Kinekor cinemas nationwide to support the programme, which assists visually impaired kids and young adults, who have no resources for proper eye care, by giving them access to eye-testing facilities and spectacles.
The runner-ups also received certificates, and according to Ster-Kinekor's Michael Bender, they are looking into selecting another commercial and finding a slot for it. This partnership is also part of its aim to assist, develop and support the local film industry by unearthing and showcasing new student talent.
