South African online retailer offers lay-by system
Founded in 2011 by Daron Chatz and Sean Butterworth, they are confident that it will breathe fresh life into the South African public's perception of pay by instalment systems and that there will be an good uptake of this offering across various LSMs.
"We realise that the physical presence of a retailer is still very important to the South African shopper and online retail is not about eradicating bricks and mortar, but rather embracing the new technologies that are available to us and providing customers with options across various channels," says Butterworth.
"Our site has a broad appeal and has just as much to offer the boutique shopper as it does the department store customer. We feel that by introducing a lay-by system on our site, we are showing people that they can have their 'True Religion' Jeans and wear them without breaking the bank."
With customers becoming more budget conscious, the Australian Retailers Association is encouraging more retailers to adopt pay by instalment programmes as a way to increase sales and please customers.
"We are all about creating a positive experience for our shoppers and nurturing our relationships with them. It's not so much about whether our customers are loyal to us, but more about whether we are loyal to our customers. By offering an alternative payment option we are providing them with a way to stretch their Rands further," adds Chatz.
"As online shopping within South Africa gains momentum, we are positive that our zero percent interest lay-by system will be eagerly received as a credit free payment option in these tough economic times."
