Tabby awarded to local B2B publication

The Brooke Pattrick Publications journal, Civil Engineering Contractor, has won a bronze medal in an international competition for business-to-business magazines staged by the Trade Association Business Publications International (TABPI).

The magazine's August 2004 cover depicting the three winners in the Glenrand-MIB SAACE Awards was voted the third best cover in the world for a special edition produced during 2004. In an innovative design, the cover folded open to reveal the actual winner - Chapman's Peak Drive in Cape Town.

The awards known as the 'Tabbies' attracted over 700 entries from across the globe. All English language publications published at least quarterly are eligible to enter in any of the 18 categories.

Publisher Gerald Garner says: "As far as we could establish, Brooke Pattrick Publications is the only South African business-to-business publisher that has won an award. We are delighted with the recognition and hope that in future years we will go further by winning awards in other editorial and design categories."

The gold medal winner for the best cover for a special edition was The Global CSO magazine. The silver was won by JEC Composites Magazine. Indian Architect & Builder and Nursing Management magazines received Honourable Mentions.

Other awards winners include UK-based Legal Business, US-based Pensions & Investments, and New Zealand-based NZ Retail, which took the Gold, Silver, and Bronze awards in the Best Single Issue category.
