Launch of first mobizine in Africa
Female youth title, Saltwater GIRL Magazine, will debut its first mobizine edition - an interactive and easy-to-read magazine that is custom-made to be read on cellphones - on Monday, 24 July 2006. Saltwater GIRL has partnered with local cellular entertainment provider, Thumbtribe, to introduce mobizine technology to Africa.
The mobizine will be updated weekly with exclusive bite-sized portions of all the inspiration, info and entertainment that is the signature of Saltwater GIRL. You won't need to be connected to your GPRS network to read it - once downloaded to your phone, you can go back and read the mobizine whenever you like.
In the UK, many top print and online magazines, as well as TV channels and record labels, are now putting out mobizines. Mobizines generally feature the latest news stories, film reviews, gossip, surf reports or lifestyle tips.
