Decorex Designer Collection comes to Cape Town

Beautifully crafted items in clay, porcelain, turned wood, recycled glass and natural textiles in shades of neutrals, indigo, greys and turquoise form part of the Decorex Designer Collection, a homeware range that will pop up at Decorex Cape Town, running at the CTICC from 26-29 April 2012.

"This exclusive range benefits local designers with a valuable, visible platform and gives show visitors, who love to shop for smaller high quality décor items, access to carefully sourced pieces to buy on the spot," says Nika Smit, senior project and brand manager. "Further good news is that the special show prices give cash-strapped collectors access to on-trend homeware of high quality."

The relaxed South African style of entertaining has been the inspiration for the range. "The look is about slowing down, enjoying the essential things in life, like spending time at home with family and friends. The items all reflect the loosening up of the way we South Africans love to live and entertain."

The pop-up store environment at the show is in step with the creative, vibrant nature of the people and products represented by the brand," says Smit. Just like this new range, pop-up stores are also closely associated with the unconventional and alternative. "Consumers give us valuable feedback that we can use in further development of the range."

Products include handmade Wonki Ware by Di Marshal, snack bowls by Anthony Shapiro, and platters and condiment jars and bespoke table centrepieces from Wendy McLachlan of Homebakes Ceramics. In wood, there are cake stands and candlesticks from Goet, oak breadboards, cheese platters and pizza paddleboards from the Laid Back Co and rustic wooden photo frames from Recycled Timber Products.

Contemporary prints of napkins, placemats and runners by Design Team, Heather Moore from Skinny laMinx's offers aprons, mix and match napkins and tea towels, Ngwenya glass collection of 4-arm candelabras and red wine goblets from recycled glass, and Lisa Firers' delicate see-through porcelain tea lights and vases complete the mood.

The Decorex Designer Collection will be available at pop-up stores at Decorex SA exhibitions and selected locations across South Africa. For more information, go www.decorex.co.za.
