Edible gardens big hit at GFWS

For the first time New Product Awards were introduced as well as an edible garden experience, where South Africans were shown how to grow their own vegetables at the annual Spring Good Food and Wine Show at the Coca-Cola Dome. It was a key element at this year's show in educating people about their own gardens.

According to its organisers, the show held over the weekend attracted record crowds, there to see celebrity chefs, including CBeebies presenters Sid and Katy, who were brought out especially for the fresh innovative children's zone, and to see the many lifestyle innovations. New interactive areas were also launched.

Exhibitors were delighted with the event. Andy Barrett of Nixan Wines said sales had been phenomenal. "I have been with the Good Food and Wine Show for six years and on the second day sold more stock than on any other trade days."

The next Good Food and Wine Show is being staged at the Durban Exhibition Centre from 25 to 28 November 2010. For more information go to www.gourmetsa.com.
