Name change for ECR Conference

The hosts of the ECR (Efficient Consumer Response) Conference have announced a name change for the annual event in order to give a greater indication of the conference content. The event has now been branded the CGCSA Conference.

In a statement, the conference organisers said: "For the past 10 years, the FMCG industry has hosted an annual conference, predominantly under the ECR banner, to showcase the achievement and benefits of trading partners working together to reduce inefficiencies within the supply chain, in order to better meet the needs of shoppers and consumers.

"For the past seven years, the conference has been brought to the industry by the Consumer Goods Council of South Africa with more and more focus given to broad industry issues. As such it has been decided to rebrand the conference under the CGCSA brand in order to better reflect the conference content. Whilst the conference will continue to showcase the benefits of ECR, it will also be used as an opportunity to review and discuss issues that are pertinent and could impact on the strategic focus of businesses within South Africa," the statement concludes.

The 11th annual conference will take place at the Emperor's Palace in Gauteng from 27 - 28 October 2009.
