Come as a princess to Cavendish Square on Mandela Day

As part of its 'Every Girl's a Princess' campaign, Code Teen in association with Cavendish Square, Ava Secrets and Club X Magazine is inviting a 1000 teenage girls to Cavendish Square at 11.45am on Saturday 16 July 2011, Mandela Day, dressed as princesses and bringing a second pair of shoes as a donation.

This 30-day teen girls' self-esteem and empowerment initiative for disadvantaged and abused girls in South Africa began on Youth Day with a self-empowerment workshop for 20 disadvantaged and abused girls from WHEATT (Woman's Hope Education and Training Trust), who were taken on a powerful transformational journey inspiring the belief that anything and everything is possible. The girls were indulged with given goody bags from Club X, Cavendish Square and Ava Secrets and a makeover and professional "cover girl" shoot.

Says Karen Burt from Code Teen, "We're aiming to get at least 1000 teen girls to unite for 67 minutes against rape and abuse and for being treated like princesses. We're asking them to dress up like the princesses they are - heels are essential and a tiara or feather boa will finish off the look. We also them to bring along an extra pair of shoes on the day, either new or second-hand in good condition, to be donated to the Princess Slipper Project, which ensures that disadvantaged and abused girls will always have 'Cinderella shoes' to take them where they deserve to be!"

Madrie Verwey, marketing manager for Cavendish Square, says "We're very excited to be part of this important and empowering project and have received support from local media personalities and celebrities, who will be out in full force on the day. We're asking everyone to help us spread the word to make sure we reach the 1000 girl mark."

Added Burt, "We are thrilled with the donations this project has received from sponsors. The girls can expect prizes and giveaways, plus they can have a bit of fun, get a mini makeover and dress up in wacky accessories to pose for pictures with friends at our photo booth."

Prizes and giveaway to the girls who sign the wall include bracelets and magazines from Club X for the first 1000 girls, Ava Secrets Designer Tins for the first 1000 girls, sim cards for the first 1000 girls from Cell C, Sass Diva accessory hampers, Hoity Toity Hampers, Ava Secrets Princess Parties, cellphones from Cell C and more.
