Rural area gets water through PPP
In a partnership between brandhouse, the Amathole District Municipality, Coca Cola, USAID and The Mvula Trust, improved access to safe water has been extended to a further 1000 households in rural villages surrounding Elliotdale, in the rural Eastern Cape.
brandhouse donated R1,2 million to the R5,5 million project which has refurbished the Elliotdale Water Treatment works and constructed over 20km of pipelines and communal standpipes, supplying five villages.
Gerald Mahinda, MD of brandhouse says public private partnerships are an innovative and effective way to enhance much-needed service delivery particularly in poorer municipalities.
The executive mayor of Amathole District Municipality, Alderman Sakhumzi Somyo, hosted an official handover event for the water supply project in Elliotdale on Wednesday 26 January 2011.
