Supporting sustainable seafood
The Ocean Basket's recent golf day held at Wingate Park Country Club in Pretoria generated over R60 000 in support of the South African Sustainable Seafood Initiative (SASSI).

Seafood has become the most traded commodity in the world, which has put some types of fish at risk. SASSI aims to ensure the sustainability of seafood, which is an increasingly popular choice of protein amongst consumers. Ocean Basket subscribes to its guidelines and is currently the largest user of aquaculture products in Southern Africa, from prawns to Nile perch and tilapia.
The success of the fund raising initiative was largely due to the sponsors, who included Tony's Liquors (Pretoria), Brand House, Champagne Sports Resort, Importalia, and JAFFA (The Jewish Accommodation For Fellow Aged), among others.
