    SAARF measures SA crime incidence

The South African Advertising Research Foundation (SAARF) has released the first 12 month findings on violent and non-violent crime in South Africa, according to the new SAARF Crime Monitor and found that 7 percent of all South Africans have been victims of violent crime.

Crime is a favourite dinner party topic, with personal anecdotes being related and embellished until who knows what the real incidence is of crime in the country. In a word, the true picture is that 7 percent of all South Africans have been victims of violent crime in the past year, and 12.9 percent have been victims of non-violent crime.

These results flow from one of SA's biggest ongoing research projects, SAARF All Media and Products Survey (AMPS) where 25 114 adult South African respondents participated.
