Design an Odd Sock

Planning for the 2013 Sanlam Investments FoodWineDesign Fair is well underway and this year's fair promises to include a series of new projects, including one called the Odd Sock Project.

The organisers have teamed up with Feat Sock Co and three SA illustrators (Lauren Fowler, Sindiso Nyoni and Nicholas Christowitz) to design a range of limited edition, statement socks. For the fourth pair they are inviting budding illustrators from around the country to submit their ultimate sock designs by 30 August 2013.

"The fair is all about promoting South Africa's creative talent," says Roberta Coci, curator of the fair, for Artlogic. "Statement socks are a must-have fashion accessory this year and so we've teamed up with House and Leisure to ask the public to get involved by designing the socks that they want to wear."

The limited edition socks will be on sale at the Fair and winner's name will be included on the packaging, together with background on the designer and the inspiration for the design. The winner will also walk away with a R1 500 Africandy voucher and a complete set of the limited edition socks.

The fair takes place from 8-10 November 2013 on the rooftop of Hyde Park Corner and includes close to 100 talented winemakers, designers and food artisans gathered at this boutique outdoor market.
