Cavendish Square pop-up store offers handcrafted gifts
At Cavendish Square, the women of the Wola Nani charity have designed and handmade exclusive papier-mâché products such as the African print "eyes design" bangle and the "seafarer" pattern bowl. These exclusive products, along with various other handcrafted products, will be available over the holiday season at the centre's first pop-up store, opening 25 November 2011.
These products are perfect for Christmas gifts and are a lovely feature for Christmas gift guides at retail prices of R30 for the bracelet and R40 for the bowl. The store will also offer its other best-selling handcrafted product ranges that include home accessories, beadwork, jewellery and a selection of cult, classic and collectible books, CDs and DVDs sold to benefit the organization. The product range can be previewed on the website www.wolanani.co.za.
Wola Nani, Xhosa for embrace, was established in 1994 to support women, orphans and vulnerable children infected and affected by the HIV/AIDS pandemic. It helps its women crafters develop a skill and earn a sustainable and regular income through the making of these crafts.
Brenda Bibby, centre manager of Cavendish Square said, "As World AIDS Day is marked in December, we are supporting their work by offering them a pop-up shop where they can showcase their wonderful designs and colourful products; providing our shoppers with unique and distinctive lines not available anywhere else."
