No udder way to get your retail fix

At the Irene Village Mall, you get to explore the “Udder Side of Life”.

The mall, outside Pretoria, is a visual feast of wonderful art. Quirky public sculptures by South African sculptor Angus Taylor liven up what could otherwise be an average shopping experience.

Every Thursday night is Silent Movie Night. A silent movie gets screened at the mall's piazza so that restaurant patrons get a movie with their dinner.

February and March are music months at this unconventional mall. In February you can enjoy the live Latin music of the Tona band. This band specialises in live percussion and guitar playing sessions that will transport you straight to Brazil.

On 25 February, local singer and song-writer Lee Martin will serenade you with her sultry guitar harmonies. On 4 March there will be more melodies to enjoy as the band DeJaVu take to the stage. The Sweet Voice Masters, a group of talented young local singers who can switch from opera to ethnic music, will also be there to keep you entertained.

March is also the month of mushrooms. On 8 March the mall will be dedicated to celebrating this fungal delight.
