Bakos Brothers has acquired Gordon Fraser, which positions Bakos Brothers as one of the biggest manufacturer and retailer of high-end furniture on the African continent. The company had a 21% growth in 2013, which to date this year has increased to 48%.
"This will allow the company to extend its manufacturing to produce a wider offering of high-end furniture for our discerning client base. The Gordon Fraser brand is known for exquisite quality and excellent workmanship, which is what Bakos stands for. Using the finest timbers and other materials in the manufacturing process, Gordon Fraser's English hand-made reproduction furniture, will now be available exclusively through the company's stores, for both classic and contemporary homes," says Ryan Bakos, CEO of the group, who is aggressively driving the brand forward into the hands of the new, modern and demanding consumer.
It was five years ago, when the group announced it was launching a manufacturing arm to its business. The market thought it was crazy to do this at a time when most retailers were looking to the East to source cheaper furniture and wider ranges. "We have always zigged, when everyone else has zagged."
The company followed the launch of manufacturing, with the launch of the store within a store, 'Bakos Design & Decorating Studios', where clients are offered a full interior design service, from meeting on site to discuss requirements, to drawing up plans and sourcing everything from paint and wallpaper to carpets and furniture to bring a home to life. This sort after service was followed recently with the launch of Bakos Kitchens, another bespoke offering, ensuring that every room in the home has the Bakos touch and level of quality.
