A group of 120 delegates descended on the Champagne Sports Resort in the Drakensberg to network, learn new skills and celebrate the successes of their fellow franchisees who walked away with top honours.
Taking the top spot as overall winner and franchise of the year was Cape Town-based Dulcé Café Waterstone Village. Franchisee Elana van Tonder bagged a trophy and a certificate – plus an all expenses paid trip to the National Restaurant Association show to be held in Chicago in 2008.
Regional franchises of the year included Plumstead (Western Cape), Shelly Beach (KwaZulu Natal and Free State), Rustenburg (Gauteng), as well as Grahamstown (Eastern Cape). In addition, the N1 and Malelane stores which were rewarded for being the best new franchisee and displaying the highest increase in turnover respectively.
There are currently 60 cafés nationwide.
