Latest technology makes real-time armchair reporting a reality
Although many will understand a Blog to be a weblog or online diary that often has hyperlinks to other sites, few may know that Vlogs are video blogs that can be recorded with webcams and downloadable software, while podcasts are audio recordings, often of casual conversations, that are available either through a Blogger's website or grabbed by using news aggregator software.
"This year's strong emphasis on branded content, and the role technology plays in delivering this to markets, is of special interest to us at Platypus as we have pioneered DVD authoring in this country and now DVD's use as a branded television vehicle," says Stanley Edwards.
Not only will Edwards be filing daily content on MIPTV, but he and other key speakers, will be conducing MIPTV report backs in Cape Town and Johannesburg in May.
"As new technologies empower viewers with unprecedented levels of control over their experience, both programmers and advertisers find themselves in an increasingly difficult position as they try to reach a continually fragmented audience. The conference will show how advertisers adjust to these new paradigms. Reveille CEO, Ben Silverman, will lead the panel in asking is this the end of the traditional 30 second spot and what form will the marriage of content and branding take? I'm looking forward to sharing these findings with you from Cannes and in more detail on my return," he says.
