"African Screen at the Labia" - Calling all African filmmakers
The Labia Theatre, based in Cape Town's city bowl (68, Orange Street) is probably South Africa's oldest independently run arthouse cinema. It will now be the first venue where audiences can watch films from African soil on a permanent basis, 365 days per year.
The African Screen at the Labia is linked up with a local outreach programme, transporting audiences from the previously disadvantaged communities and townships to the cinema providing them the opportunity to watch and discuss African movies in a theatrical environment.
The Labia Theatre is calling filmmakers from Africa who wish to have their productions being screened at the African Screen to submit their work. Filmmakers from French speaking territories should supply their material with English subtitles.
For more information please contact the Labia at . This unique initiative is being supported by the NFVF (National Film and Video Foundation) as well as the Royal Netherlands Embassy in Pretoria.
