King Pie expands into frozen food market

King Pie was established in 1993 and today is the leading pie franchise in the quick service restaurant industry with 290 franchise outlets nationwide and an increasing African footprint in countries such as Swaziland, Mozambique and Zambia.

Years of experience in research and development has enabled BMO Foods, the manufacturing arm, to understand the consumer market and this has enabled it to offer consumers a range of retail pies.

King Pie's manufacturing facility is based in Midrand and is hazard analysis and critical control points accredited and Halaal certified by the Muslim Judicial Council and monthly independent laboratory testing for DNA species is carried out.

The plant manufactures over 180,000 pies a day to the highest standards including 35 quality control check points and the products are verified by an independent laboratory to ensure the absence of pathogens and validate that only authentic meat contents are used. Testing and tasting is conducted daily by a sensory panel before being approved.

The range includes chicken pies, pepper steak pies, steak & kidney pies, beef sausage rolls, cocktail sausage rolls and the variety cocktail rolls (a combination of six beef, four chicken and four cheese and onion variants.)

The new 400g puff pastry roll offering over 80 layers is ideal for enthusiastic home bakers and will retail for R9.99 incl. VAT. The pies and sausage rolls are available in packs of four from R35.95 incl. VAT and the cocktail rolls come in packages holding 14 different units from R35.95 at leading retailers.
