'Me Time' survey indicates South Africa loves couch time

The survey found that over 50% of respondents described their favourite 'me time' activity as couch moments at home watching a DVD or TV series. Coming in second place with 21% was kitchen duty where respondents enjoyed donning their aprons to exercise their culinary creativity.

    The survey also revealed that:
    • 49% of respondents admitted to fibbing, pretending to be ill or swamped with work, to avoid plans with friends in order to squeeze in some 'me time'
    • 37% percent prefer to spend their 'me time' in bed, followed by 30% opting to curl up on the sofa to relish a couch-moment
    • 32% of the respondents admitted that they would choose 'me time' over a girls/boys night out
    • 25% would opt for some alone time instead of quality time with their significant other
    • 12% would rather have 'me time' than sex

When questioned on pleasurable activities, 45% stated that spending time with the most important people in their lives brings them the most pleasure. Indulging in something sweet came in second (19%), whilst shopping (16%) was rated the third most pleasurable pursuit.

When the sweet-toothed pleasure seekers were asked to identify what a spoonful of pleasure entailed, 73% stated it was ice cream.

Comments Magnum brand manager Junaid Rahman, "South Africans appear to be full of the pleasure-seeking spirit - 64% of those surveyed claimed that they never feel guilty for having 'me time' for a simple reason - 'because I deserve it'."

The survey was issued to coincide with the release of Magnum Pints, its new liquid chocolate-centred product in tubs, for at-home consumption.
