The Sunday Times Generation Next Awards, announced late last week, have included Sandton City as the Coolest Shopping Mall in South Africa, for the third year in a row. In addition, many of its tenants featured in the Coolest Brands listings.

Wimpy, Nando's, Mugg & Bean and Ocean Basket featured in Cool Eat-Out Places
McDonald's, KFC, Debonairs, Steers and Nando's were voted the top five Cool Fast-Food Places
Top three Cool Telecoms Providers - Vodacom, MTN and Cell C
Apple iPhones voted the Coolest Cellphones
Samsung Galaxy Tablet was voted the Coolest Hi-Tech Gadget
To crown it all, Sandton City is home to eight of the top 10 Coolest Brands Overall: Coca-Cola, Nike, Samsung, Apple, adidas, Mr Price, Blackberry and McDonalds. (The other two brands in the Coolest Brand Overall category were BMW, at No 1 and Mercedes-Benz, at No 9.)
