Sasol backs the Springboks and calls on media to do same
Sasol has launched a R75 000 national Sasol Springbok Media Competition aimed at promoting national pride and the love of Springbok rugby. Sasol launched the competition to highlight the key role the media plays in rugby.
Sasol group corporate affairs manager Andre Botha says: "Sasol represent a proud and patriotic South African brand. As the drive and fuel behind the Springbok brand, which represents the pride and the passion of many South Africans for rugby, Sasol is committed to this sponsorship over the next six years and we would like to work closely with the media to continue growing and instilling a love for the game and the Springboks in the hearts and minds of all South Africans.
"It is through your photographs and use of words that the passion and excitement of the game is conveyed to the fans."
The competition was launched this week and will run until the 31 August 2005. It will include three categories :
1. Sasol Springbok Journalist of the Year - Print and Internet - the written word.
2. Springbok Photographer of the Year - still photo sports action. The image capturing the action of any Springbok-related event that is well composed and best captures the passion of Springbok rugby.
3. Sasol Springbok Presenter / Commentator of the Year - the spoken word.
The final winner in each category will receive a prize of R25 000. The competition will be run entirely electronically through email and web based correspondence. The first test match kicks off on 11 June 2005 when South Africa plays Uruguay in East London.
