SA sports journo's hoist the cup
Judges are looking to reward excellence in print and website writing and photography, and in television and radio broadcasting, with total prize money in excess of R60 000 to be won in 17 categories (R10 000 per category winner and R2000 per sub-category winner). Full details, including categories, rules and judging criteria can be downloaded from our website: www.sablimited.co.za; or email . Closing date for entries is 8 April 2005.
Along with sports editors and producers, bosses etc, nominating the best work from their departments, personal submissions will be invited from sports journalists and broadcasters. All work published or broadcast in the 2004 calendar year (1 January 2004 to 31 December 2004) is eligible.
In addition, this year there is a new award: sports journalists will be asked to nominate the most media-friendly sports personality of 2004, a search for those players and top officials who make our job easier, who are forthcoming, frank and accessible, who give good copy and seldom say: "The team that makes the least mistakes will win"; or "We can take a lot of positives out of this defeat"; and who don't switch off their cell phones just before deadline...!
The SAB-sponsored awards ceremony takes place this year on 10 May in Johannesburg.
