Rewarding media financial services staff
The credit and financial departments of media owners were rewarded for their often unseen and unsung work at the annual CoreXalance awards ceremony held late last week at Moyo in Melrose Arch, Johannesburg.
According to the CEO, Mandy Kayser, they felt the need to award these departments. "They so often get left out of social gatherings and rarely get awarded for their hard work and contribution to their company's success."
The awards, held on Friday, 5 November 2010, were divided into two main groups - companies and individuals.
Company winners
- On time every time - given to the company that is on time, every time in its response to critical correspondence, reports and questions from the client. Ads24 walked away with the first place, followed by Caxton Magazines (second place) and Independent Newspapers (third place).
- How low can you go - given to companies who limit the risk of bad debt by resolving queries, passing necessary credits quickly and collecting debt well. Here Primedia @Home won first place, with Primedia Broadcasting in second place and Condé Nast Independent Magazines in third.
- Credit Excellence Company Award for 2010 - Caxton Magazines
Individual winners
- The Individual Credit Professional Award - winner was Elke Pretorius, from Ads24, Beverley Vink, from Capro in second place, followed by Shereen Peter, from Primedia Broadcasting. Meagan Dowman, from Associated Magazines, received a certificate in this category, with honourable mention for her work this year.
- Thoroughbred Credit Professional Award - Pat Green, credit manager with Avusa and also the Director of the MCC Board for his long term involvement and support.
