Finweek journo takes Citi award
Finweek contributor Bruce Whitfield was recently awarded the South African Citi Journalistic Award for Outstanding Business Reporting. This annual financial/business journalism award, which began in 1982, recognises outstanding business reporting and editorial writing in participating Citi markets.
Zdenek Turek, chief executive of Citi Sub-Saharan Africa, said Whitfield had been selected by an independent panel of judges in New York for his outstanding article "FACE OFF: Will FirstRand's feisty assurers come to blows?"
“The judges were extremely impressed with his detailed knowledge of the financial markets and his ability to convey a complex matter in an accessible manner. His work highlights the best of what we have to offer in the South African financial media and I'm sure Bruce will be a fantastic ambassador for South Africa in New York.”
Whitfield will join media from around the world on a 10-day business and financial seminar in the US, administered by Columbia Graduate School of Journalism under Citi auspices.
