Deadline looms for corporate publication competition

The closing date for this year's SA Publication Forum Corporate Publication competition is Friday, 6 July 2007. Last year close on 120 publications were entered, with Sandaba, Sanlam's staff newspaper, receiving top honours.

In 2006 Dr Elain Vlok, head of communications at Clover, was named Editor of the Year. Other companies that excelled included New Media, which won best external magazine for its title Mercedes and the best publication that appears only once a year with Front Cover. Words'Worth Publishing won best achievement in writing and best external newsletter for its title Small Capital.

Standard Bank also excelled by winning in the categories best internal magazine (The Standard) and best DVD newsletter (Blue Wave). Another company that also proved that it is serious about its communication function was Santam, with its Santam Focus winning in the category best external magazine with a small budget and its staff newspaper SP winning best achievement in design.

Old Mutual's That's a Wr@p won best electronic newsletter, Deloitte South Africa won best once-off publication and Metropolitan won the award for best annual report.

The African Motion Picture Academy produced six finalists in the corporate DVD section and received top honours for the Toyota Corporate DVD. Another company that entered several titles was Momentum, which won the best internal newsletter category with its publication Moment.
