Justice Malala has been appointed publisher of Johncom Media Investments (JMI) Magazine Division, it was announced this weekend. The appointment is with immediate effect and follows the departure to Independent Newspapers of Mike Tissong, who was the GM of JMI Magazine Division.

Malala has extensive experience in the South African media industry, working as political correspondent of the Sunday Times, as well as the newspaper’s London and New York correspondent. Malala was the editor of daily newspaper This Day, and most recently, has been consulting for Johncom on new product development.

“Justice will be at the helm at an exciting stage for the division, which is set for strong growth, not only through existing titles, but in new magazines that will be launched in the coming months,” says Mike Robertson, CEO of Johncom Media Investments.

“The division will also be developing new products in the digital and eventing fields,” Robertson added.

In addition to the appointment of Malala, Jocelyne Bayer, business manager of business publishing at magazine division, has been appointed associate publisher and will take on the role of business development at JMI magazine division.
