Media gurus to meet at SA summit
These broadcasters include the SABC, CBBC; India; PBS, America, Brazil’s TV E; Nigeria’s FRCN; Australia; Mozambique TV and Swedish Educational Broadcasting Company, UR, Sweden
The list of speakers, workshop leaders and master class teachers include Roy Disney, who will give a keynote address and open the Children’s Film Festival; Milton Chen from the George Lucas Foundation; and about 300 children from all over the world. As the host nation, SA will have the largest contingent of child participants, being identified and selected through their participation in the National Outreach Programme.
All nine provinces
The Outreach programme kicked off in Alexandra township, Johannesburg, in February, and are being conducted in all of the nine provinces of the country during March, right up to the summit.
Other speakers are Robby London (Inspector Gadget) on writing for animation; Rick Mischel on finance and distribution; Vinod Ganatra from India; Dr Soma from Sri Lanka and Polish director Andrej, who will address the audiences on how to work with talent and directing the child actor.
There will be a Danish experience focusing on production of film for children by Rumle Hammerich; Charlotte Giese with Marina Cavalluzzi dealing with television school for mums, a media education project; and Sholly and Maya from the United States and Germany featuring the PJ ‘Mummy Bar’, Israeli channels dedicated to ‘baby –new born programming.

The event is being organised by the Children and Broadcasting Foundation for Africa (CBFA), a non-profit organisation based in South Africa, with affiliates in West and East Africa.
