Think awards five graphic design bursaries

The South African Graphic Design Council, think, has announced the winners of the successful applicants for its 2005 Annual Graphic Design Bursary programme. Veejay Archary, think chairman, says, "The work submitted was of a very high standard and unfortunately we only have limited funds to allocate to our bursary programme."

He says the panel could not decide on the three out of five top finalists, but with the pending auction sale of the Platinum Prize from the thinkAhead awards, an Apple eMac donated by the Core Group, and Creative Suite Premium software donated by Adobe, think has been able to extend bursaries to all five students!

Sduduzo Dlamini, a think bursary winner in 2004, will be completing his studies at Vega Brand Communication School this year with the assistance of his think bursary. Another Johannesburg student, Pheello Mofokeng, is entering his second year of study at the National Electronic Media Institute of South Africa (NEMISA) with a portfolio that demonstrates an excellent aptitude for graphic design.

Three students from KwaZulu-Natal will be attending the newly opened Vega Brand Communication School in Westville. A R5000 bursary for each student will be sent directly to the respective institutions at which they will be studying to be used, at the discretion of the head of the institution, for any expenses needed to further their studies.
