Toffie Pop Culture Festival to return in 2011

The President is hosting the second Toffie Pop Culture Festival at the Cape Town City Hall, 24-26 March 2011, following its first successful showing this year. The cities of Cape Town and Buenos Aires, as well as the South African embassy in Argentina, officially support the festival.

Buenos Aires has invited The President to host the festival in the city next year as part of its Design Festival.

The festival will open with an exhibition including work by the speakers, The President and other South African advertising agencies, followed by a two-day conference and an after-party.

Speakers include Brecht Vandenbroucke (artist and designer from Belgium), Daito Manabe (artist and programmer from Tokyo) and Alex Trochut (designer from Spain).

"The idea is to create a platform where local designers and creatives can network with each other and with some of the major role players in the international pop culture scene. Tickets prices are really affordable as it is important to us that the festival is very accessible," says Peet Pienaar, creative director of The President.

Tickets can be booked at az.oc.tnediserpeht@eiffot and cost R680 if you book for the Cheapskate Special before 31 August 2010. Students pay R500 and standard tickets are R750 (if you book from the 1st of September).
