Design Indaba conference - only simulcast tickets left

For the sixth year in succession, tickets for the Design Indaba Conference (24-26 February 2010) are sold out. However, due to the ongoing demand for access to the conference, tickets to the Young Designers' Simulcast are now open to the public.

This simulcast traditionally allows students and designers under the age of 25 to watch a live broadcast of the conference in an adjacent auditorium for a discounted price. For professionals and designers over the age of 25, access to the simulcast can be bought for R1360 or R1560, including a subscription to the Design Indaba magazine.

Speakers entice

Given the list of speakers announced so far, the simulcast is well worth attending. Speakers include architect Alejandro Aravena; product designers the Bouroullec Brothers and Tord Boontje; journalist Bruce Nussbaum; Anomaly CEO Carl Johnson; fashion designer Han Feng; graphic designers Michael Bierut, Harry Pearce and Stefan G Bucher; interior designer Marcelo Rosenbaum; and interaction designers Troika.

South Africa puppets inspire

Cartoonist Zapiro and producer Thierry Cassuto's puppet-based ZA News looks at South Africa's political landscape with a satirical bite and lot more laughter and the Handspring Puppet company's War Horse has been recognised as the “theatrical event of the decade” by the UK Sunday Times - no mean feat for the Kalk Bay-based company.
