Once the artworks were created, contestants were photographed in profile and their artworks then inserted into that photo.
These creations have now been entered into a draw and the best 10 will be chosen by a panel of judges, as well as one voted in by a public vote. Entries are judged on innovation, execution, popularity and how well the piece expresses the individual. The winning 11 contestants will form the Design Indaba Superstars team and will be immortalised in a public sculpture.
Word of Art helped attendees get into the best creative frame of mind to “let it out” by supplying live acoustic music and colourful snacks including sour worms, popcorn and marshmallows to keep up the entrants' spirits.
