    2009 Roger Garlick Award finalists

    The 2009 Roger Garlick Award finalists were announced last week at the Advertising and Media Association of South Africa (AMASA) AGM. According to Wayne Bischoff, head of the Roger Garlick Award portfolio, the judges were very strict this year.

    Said Bischoff, “Of the 59 entries received, seven were awarded finalist status. The judges set a very high standard, so those who made finalist status are truly very worthy.”

    Sponsored by Oracle Airtime Sales, for the second year running the 2009 AMASA Gold(s) and the overall Roger Garlick Award winner will be announced at Tony Koenderman's AdReview Awards on 23 April 2009.

    The campaigns that stood head and shoulders above the rest are:

    Best use of Out of Home category:


    • Dawn Rowlands, Posterscope for Brandhouse J&B
    • Lee Curtis, TLC for Discovery Treadmills
    • Margie Knap, Mindshare for Kimberly Clark SA, Babysoft 3 Ply
    • Britta Reid, MediaCompete for Audi South Africa, A4

    Best use of Newspaper category:


    • Johan Giliomee, Admakers International for General Motors SA, SAAB

    Best Use of Multiple/Mixed Media category:


    • Margie Knap, Mindshare for Kimberly Clark SA, Kotex Young

    Best Use of Radio category:


    • Wayne Bishop, Nota Bene for Unilever Axe
