A week for the next creative generation
It begins with the launch of New Blood – an exhibition of the best graduate work from over 100 college courses from around the world. Visitors can register for inspirational lectures, practical workshops, and portfolio surgeries with design and advertising's finest. Aspiring creatives will walk away with the tools they need to get a job in the creative industries – some will even walk away with a job. This year also marks the first time that the event will be carbon neutral.
Student awards
The D&AD Global Student Awards Nominations Exhibition will be open all week, ending with a ceremony at which the coveted D&AD Student Yellow Pencils will be awarded [Bizcommunity.com is holding thumbs for the South African nominees]. Winners from D&AD's Boxfresh competition will also be on exhibition.
“Last year wondering around D&AD New Blood, before the masses descended on the free beer, I was literally taken back. It's a huge event full of eye candy for creatives,” says D&AD education chairman Garrick Hamm.
“To see all the colleges and all the best work under one ‘big top' event gives a unique snap shot of who's doing the best work and from where. And most graduates winning at New Blood are pretty much guaranteed their first job. It gives many others a foot into an otherwise closed creative director's door.”
Ten thousand visitors are expected to this week of free events. Go to www.dandad.org/congress/week3 for further details.
