Grey SA on a roll

Of the over 1 000 WPP offices around the world, Grey Worldwide SA has been named the most awarded Grey agency in the world, according to CEO Ann Nurock, “And this also puts us eighth in rankings of all the WPP agencies worldwide going into Cannes,” she says.

Grey's recent two D&AD Yellow Pencils also ranks it at four on the South African Creative League Table.

Adds Grey's executive creative director Mike Barnwell, “Over the past two years, we've gone to great lengths to transform Grey into a creative agency and not just an agency with a creative department. It makes your objectives much easier to achieve when the entire agency is creatively focused.”

Grey now heads off to Cannes where Barnwell has been appointed as a judge in the radio category.

Grey's D&AD wins were in the radio campaign category and radio writing category for its Geronimo Condoms client. This work also featured strongly at The One Show Awards where it received two Bronze Pencils and a merit. A bronze at the Clio's came courtesy of Nokia Jeans (cinematography), as well as five Clio shortlists (Nokia Jeans original music and four for Geronimo).

On the local front Grey has also fared well and have placed in the top three in various categories at the Creative Circle Ad of the Month every month since December 2006.

FinWeek's AdReview awards recently awarded Grey as runner-up in the mid-size agency of the year category. “Another result of our creative drive is the major new business we have gained,” says Nurock, “This saw us listed fourth on the new-business table.”

Financial Mail's 2007 AdFocus speaks of Grey being on the verge of creative greatness (reviewing 2006). “This has now been achieved in 2007,” says Nurock. The publication, which gave Grey a seven out of 10 says, “Grey has changed its colours.”
