English teaching film from Poland beats Game of Thrones at NYF

Olive Green, a film-based course of English, designed by the SuperMemo World publishing house from Poznan in Poland, was awarded a Gold World Medal at the New York Festivals World's Best TV and Film. Competing in the Entertainment category, it triumphed over a production based on Game of Thrones by HBO Home Entertainment.

The New York Festivals Best TV and Film competition saw several thousand applications, out of which 724 finalists from 48 countries around the world were selected. The awards gala was held in Las Vegas, with SuperMemo World represented by Krzysztof Biedalak, CEO, and Alicja Jankowiak, editor-in-chief and executive producer.

Representatives of world’s famous film and TV production companies, such as CNN, HBO, BBC, ZDF, Deutsche Welle, France 5, Disney Channels, Al Jazeera America, to name just a few, attended the ceremony.

Given the number of globally recognised brands taking part in the contest, the jury’s verdict to honour a non-standard educational production puts the innovative combination of education and entertainment, or edutainment, in the spotlight.
