Commercials guru Dan Roberts partners with Quizzical Pictures

A household name in the South African television industry, Quizzical Pictures has been known for producing top quality television including some of the best known and most loved local drama series.

Over the last few years Quizzical Pictures has also started branching out into commercials and branded content. Major branded content shows produced by Quizzical include Amstel Class Act, Castle Light Crossroads, Sunlight's Bag it or Lose it, The Perfect Sishebo for Unilever, Tropika Island of Treasure: Season 6 and the popular Clover Little Big Cook Off. Recent commercials include Clover, the IDC, OlX and a major campaign for Coca-Cola.

For Quizzical, partnering with a commercials director like Dan Roberts is not only logical, but will hopefully give their growing commercials division the depth and experience that it needs.

Dan Roberts has had a lengthy career as a stills photographer, film director, music producer and composer spanning over thirty years. Having directed over 300 TV commercials, music videos and documentaries, Dan has also been involved in founding three companies in the industry namely: The Gatehouse, Left Post Production and Terraplane.

When Quizzical Pictures asked him to direct a project for the IDC in 2014, it was such an amazing experience from concept to final product, that all involved deemed the collaboration between Dan and Quizzical as definitely worth repeating.

Dan Roberts' list of work seems endless. During his career he has recorded, mixed and/or made films and stills for: Radio Kalahari Orkes, Die Antwoord, DKW, Johnny Clegg, Jesse Clegg, The Hinds Brothers, Laurie Levine, Joshua Grierson, Freddy Van'Dango, The BLK JKS, Madala Kunene, Finley Quay (UK), Money Mark (Beastie Boys), Hugh Masekela, Ed Jordan and Arno Carstens.

Amarula, MTN, Toyota, Vodacom, Exclusive Books and Cerebos are only are few of the brands that Dan Roberts has directed commercials for.
