Warsop appointed Jury President for LIAA
Previous Jury Presidents include John Hegarty and David Abbot from the UK, and Alex Bogusky from the USA.
Warsop is honoured to be following in the footsteps of advertising legends John Hunt (1995) and Robyn Putter (1997). "John and Robyn have been heroes of mine since I embarked upon my advertising career in 1987. It's a great privilege to have this appointment in common with them."
Based on South Africa's Creative Circle Creativity Surveys (published since 1994), Warsop is the country's most internationally awarded creative director. "I see this as recognition of The Jupiter Drawing Room's global reputation as a through-the-line specialist, equally at home in both the advertising and design disciplines," he says.
In 2005 Warsop became the first local creative director to have judged the "big four" international festivals: Cannes, The One Show, the Clios (which he chaired in 2000) and D&AD, which he judged for a second time in 2006.
In the LIAA 20th Anniversary Retrospective in 2005, The Jupiter Drawing Room (Johannesburg) was recognised as the world's most awarded independent agency in the 20-year history of the awards, and Warsop as the No 1 creative director in the world, ahead of such luminaries as Marcello Serpa and John Hunt, previous chairpersons of the Cannes International Advertising Festival.
