- Operations Management Higher Diploma (or any related tertiary qualification)
- Valid Unendorsed Code 08 Drivers License
- At least 8 years related experience

- Knowledge of the toll collection process & toll road environment
- Analytical skills
- The Assistant Operations Manager will be required to drive frequently on the Bakwena N4 project to visit toll plazas and/or other sites.
- The road and the toll plazas span over an area of ±380km for both the N1/N4 route.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
The successful candidate’s responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Assist Operations Manager (N1/N4) in supervising daily operations of organisation (also refer to the Operations Manager Job Spec).
- Develop productive, profitable and achievement oriented working environment for employees.
- Address operational issues and concerns in a timely fashion.
- Supervise operations team to ensure operational excellence and excellent customer services.
- Assist with planning and maintaining operational budgets.
- Oversee operational costs, risk and audit activities.
- Timeously manage and oversee the process of forecasting traffic volumes and manning levels.
- Assist in interviewing, recruiting, training, performance evaluation, promotion and termination activities in conjunction with the HC department.
- Responsible for health, safety and security measures at all plazas, including ensuring a clean, safe and organised facility.
- Responsible for proper and timeous administration, recordkeeping, compiling, and presenting of reports and statistics as per requirements of the Board of Directors, BPCC, SANRAL and any other company requirements.
- Assist in ensuring sound relations exist with road users, the client, Independent Engineer and other relevant services and the different departments.
- Ensure sound relations amongst team members from the operations department, which enables motivated staff through job enrichment, training and development, mentoring and coaching, and proper internal communication.
- Educate operations team on best practices, company policies and service excellence standards.
- Determine staffing requirements, work assignment and schedules for new projects.
- Ensure policies and procedures are timeously updated and communicated, as required.
- Ensure that the ongoing development of the toll collection system includes all the functionality and controls required to maintain a high level of service to the company and the client.
- Ensure that new and current system functionalities are thoroughly tested by the relevant parties before live implementation.
- Assist in timeously managing and administering subcontractors and suppliers.
- Evaluate current operational strategies and recommend improvements.
- Generate operational reports for management as needed.
- Assist in managing the Operations Department consisting of ±450 employees, including the plaza managers on that route.
