Advertising Sales Executive – Tourism Update

Tourism Update is looking for an energetic Advertising Sales Executive to grow our advertiser base and develop new commercial relationships across the tourism industry.
Tourism update is an established B2B tourism publication reaching travel-trade professionals involved in selling and promoting travel to Southern Africa.
We’re looking for someone who enjoys finding opportunities, talking to businesses and turning conversations into sales.

What you’ll be doing

You’ll be responsible for growing advertising revenue by:

• Finding and approaching new prospective advertisers.
• Building relationships with tourism companies, destinations and industry suppliers.
• Understanding what clients are trying to achieve and recommending suitable advertising solutions.
• Selling digital advertising, newsletter exposure, sponsored content, topical features and integrated campaigns.
• Growing and retaining existing accounts and finding new clients
• Developing a strong pipeline of future business.
• Meeting clients and representing tourism update at relevant industry events.
• Keeping your CRM, follow-ups and sales administration up to date.
• Working with our advertising, editorial and production teams to ensure campaigns are delivered properly.

Who we’re looking for

You should be:

• A confident salesperson who is comfortable approaching new people.
• Curious about businesses and how they market themselves.
• Able to build relationships rather than simply chase transactions.
• Organised and disciplined about follow-up.
• Comfortable discussing budgets and asking for the business.
• Able to work independently and take responsibility for your sales pipeline.
• Interested in travel, tourism and the wider business world.

Around 2–4+ years of B2B sales experience would be ideal. Media, advertising or tourism experience would be useful, but we’re particularly interested in people who can demonstrate that they know how to prospect, develop relationships and win new business.
