We’re working with a leading communications agency that combines PR, strategy, research, content, creative and digital to help brands and organisations build strong reputations and meaningful narratives across South Africa, Africa and the UK.

Who are we looking for:
We’re looking for a Mid-Weight Content Strategist who is both a strong writer and strategic thinker.
This is not purely a content-writing role. You’ll need to be comfortable researching industries, understanding business and economic trends, finding the story within complex information and turning it into a strong point of view.
The ideal candidate could come from content strategy, PR, journalism, editorial or communications, with around 3–5 years’ experience and a proven ability to write for brands and senior executives.

What will you do:

• Develop content strategies and narrative frameworks for clients.
• Identify relevant trends, conversations and storytelling opportunities.
• Research businesses, industries, markets and current affairs.
• Turn complex research, data and information into compelling insights.
• Write thought leadership, opinion pieces, bylines and executive commentary.
• Develop messaging and points of view for senior executives and brands.
• Build editorial plans and content territories.
• Work with PR and account teams to identify opportunities for earned media.
• Collaborate with creative, digital and strategy teams on campaigns.
• Present ideas and strategic recommendations to clients when required.
• Edit and refine content to a high editorial standard.

What will you need:

• 3–5 years’ relevant experience in content, PR, communications, journalism or editorial.
• Excellent writing and editing skills.
• A strong portfolio of thought leadership, opinion pieces, executive content or long-form brand content.
• Strong research and analytical ability.
• The ability to understand complex subjects and find the compelling story.
• Experience developing narratives, messaging or content strategies.
• Strong understanding of the South African business, media and economic landscape.
• Confidence working across multiple clients and industries.
• Excellent editorial judgement and attention to detail.
• Genuine curiosity about business, finance, current affairs and emerging trends.
• Strong advantage: Experience in financial services, fintech, investment, corporate communications, business or economic content.
