Agricultural facilitator at LIMA RDF
Show profile Hide profileAs a facilitator, I consult and liaise with the relevant stakeholders for the farmers. At Lima I am responsible for communicating meetings with the farmers, stakeholders and service providers via phones, emails, letters and verbally. I have had an opportunity to facilitate a project alone, responsible for procurement of needed material for the community projects, handling deliveries, outsourcing crop production training specialists where there is a need. Developing gardens here produce will be sold in different markets, I monitor and assist from land preparation, planting, irrigation, weeding and harvesting. The mentioned experience increased my confidence to speak and lead groups. It also assisted in improving my skill on stakeholder engagement as it is my responsibility to identify and work with various relevant stakeholders. All of the above mentioned experiences have enabled my strength of working individually and as a team. Working at LIMA has also improved my facilitation skills as I facilitate group's discussions and meetings with farmers. I do weekly and monthly reporting to the managers, zone managers and stakeholders through presentations and written reports, and this has improved my ability to present verbally and in writing.
I have recently started working with farmers on Jobs Fund, where I recruit and help upcoming farmers in the Nkandla area. It is done by providing funds to them, after monitoring and proving support, training and workshops. I deal with broiler, layers and vegetable farmers, where I teach them from basics to all required modules, I also find markets and Input suppliers for them. I also look for markets for different farmers as I deal with layers, broiler, livestock & vegetable production etc.
