She served as South Africa's first Ambassador for the global organization, World Leadership Day™.

She:
- has been been engaged as an electronics engineer and strategic business person, for more than 22 years in the military, financial and IT corporate sectors, responsible for entrepreneurial business start-ups, corporate strategic marketing, planning and execution; IT outsource contract management;
- has owned a technology design and importing firm;
- owns and manages property investment companies;
- she is a mentor coach and facilitator for various empowerment programmes CR Squared delivers in the financial and IT sectors of South Africa.
Gerda has a B.Eng (Electron) degree of the University of Pretoria, and a MBL (Masters Degree in Business Leadership) at UNISA's School for Business. She is a member of COMENSA and has also been accredited with the ACC (Advanced Coaching Credential programme) of CoachU Inc.
