BigNews editor named Best SMME Jounalist in Africa

At the Africa SMME Awards in Johannesburg last week Zanele Mbeki, who is herself a regular reader of BigNews for the Business Owner, awarded the trophy for best SMME jounalist in Africa to Barrie Terblanche, editor of BigNews.

The citation mentioned that the judges were particularly impressed by Terblanche's objective and informed style of writing.

Entries came from all corners of the continent and there were four regional awards for East, North, West and Southern Africa, as well as the award (which Barrie won) for Africa.

BigNews is a national newspaper for SMMEs. It is based in Cape Town, printed in Pietermaritzburg, has an office in Johannesburg and another in the Eastern Cape. Their last ABC was 174 000 (ABC July 2003).
