Richard Thwaites - talented young director joins Threshold Collective
Richard comes from a very experienced directing background, particularly in the field of short films. An AFDA graduate, Richard has been awarded "Best Director" at the M-Net Edit Awards and was selected for a competition at the Cape Town World Cinema Festival where his work went up against the best in local and international short films.
Richard's debut for Threshold Collective was a series of ads for the brand Wimpy. These ads were used to introduce a new Wimpy campaign targeting kids using 4 new and very funky characters: T-na, Sk8 Sista, 2me and Mad Mike. These commercials make great use of a synthesis between green-screen animation techniques and live acting and place a fresh, creative spin in the arena of retail advertising.
