Eco-Organisations, Greenpop and Seed host tree-planting
Many expected to participate in 67 minutes of greening
This Sunday 17 July, volunteers with green fingers are expected to gather at 11:00 a.m. at Rocklands Primary School in Mitchell's Plain to plant a variety of indigenous and fruit trees in celebration of Mandela Day, which is the following day. For 67 minutes, these volunteers will plant much-needed trees, symbolically paying tribute to the 67 years that Madiba spent working towards making South Africa a better place. The aim is to try plant 93 trees or more in this time - one for each year of Nelson Mandela's inspiring life.
The companies that have contributed generously towards making this day of growing and greening South Africa happen are:

SEED and Greenpop have sustainability programmes in place that connect young learners with nature, encourage them to care for the trees and work on methods to ensure good tree maintenance for the future.
Greenpop is growing and have various exciting planting projects coming up. www.greenpop.org
Seed are building an international standard sustainability education centre in Mitchell's Plain that supports garden-based community abundance micro-enterprise projects. www.seed.org.za
